Mine is due in the next 4-5 weeks for my 1.9 159.

And I'll be honest, I'm sort of dreading it.

I'm with Adrian Flux/Aviva through the AO club. Im hoping they can give a similar quote to last year but dread it as I'm hearing that insurance has gone up across the board

I heard that putting my mom or sister on the insurance as a named driver may actually bring the cost down though? Is this true?!

Try Privilege sargent. I've been with them for a few years and my renewal did go up by £100 but that was due to an £1800 claim against me. For once, shopping around didn't result in a cheaper renewal, all the others I tried were over £200 more.

Out of ten quotes last week; only three were under a thousand (Adrian Flux wasn't one of them) and two wouldn't insure me at all.
I ended up renewing with Tesco as they were the cheapest but still £150 more than last year.
Bad times.

Amazingly my insurance went down this year:) so did my wife's :)

I've just insured another car in the last few days and it is no more expensive than I paid approx 8-10yrs ago for a similar type of car :)

My Mother-in-Law has just received her renewal through Saga, 50% increase :wow:

It is just one big lottery

Mine went up loads but I did switch from a group 16 car to a group 19 car. My origanal renewal quote for my old 156 had dropped by a third though.

It really is a lottery :(

Folks - for the last few years I've always managed a saving through using price comparisons.

This year I've noticed that, when looking at the small print, the only reason some policies were cheaper was because they were flimsy. Having said that I've had experience in the past where, through my own laziness, I've paid too much and been over-insured.

The point of this post is, though, is it better to get on the dog and bone and talk to humans????

In my experience most of those 'humans' just punch your basic data into a computer then tell you what it says. Sure, occasionally some of them can be helpful but they're a rare breed.
Having said that, I do always try to call instead of using their websites.

I've never saved on a quote from a comparison site.

And yes, adding my wife to my policy brought the premium down. :cheese:

Adrian Flux sent me my renewal for the MX5... Absolutely crackers price.
A quick check on the internet nearly HALVED it straight away (and I was getting lower quote whacking in 0ncb). I rang them, they offered to drop the price from £620 to £450 - amazing how much it drops straight away, but couldn't match anything I'd got.

Aviva are the winners in this, they've insured Layla with my 8 years ncb protected for £400 BUT with a good price to add Daisy in May when her policy (with only 1 years ncb) expires, and they'll requote with the ncbs swapped over which is more than AF would do.

Painfully expensive still, but, hey ho.
