Has there ever been an 'organised central London meet/drive? heres why..

Another saturday night, but decided against the pub in favour of a little drive around London and its suburbs..

The GT has just passed the MOT at first attempt (though I have replaced discs and pads just prior).
So I jumped in the car and headed out of Romford (always a good start for any day) and round the North Circular and up the Ace Cafe in west London, (before any clever sod says it, yes, I know it wasnt Italian night) just popped in for a mug of tea before going down the Westway in to central London, down Park Lane part Hyde Park (Winter Wonderland is on at the mo, looks great at night). Then down Embankment, in to the City and out through the East End. A 3 hour trip but worth every minute in the Alfa.. Great tunes helped and "Gimme Shelter" by the Stones came on just as I pulled out of the Ace Cafe, great timing by the radio station.

London at night is a great cruise, the later the better. Driving down the Embankment on near empty road with the victorian street lamps and the Thames rolling by is a rare treat in a busy city.

Parked next to an Aston Martin Vantage at Ace Cafe, just to make his car look bad

Rushy, we used to them on a regular basis but they seem to have died out.

We would drive throught the tunnels of London Town. It was great fun listening to the noise of various V6s and asorted other loud engins!!:)

I think it was a bit of a mission to organise, especially with a lot cars all trying to keep together.

Still, someone might read this and try to reserect one, "for old times sake"!!!

I've not done a tunnel run in ages but used to love them. Maybe not quite so impressive in my TS now as my V6 was, but sure I'd still have fun!

Found out recently one of my friends (now also an Alfa driver) has a flat right next to Tooley Street - ideal tunnel running location!

Hmm..as I have the JTD engine, I will say that i wont create an audio orgasm..but could certainly provide a getaway mask of diesel smoke. That would be a treat for the other drivers.. :D

We did a London tunnel run back in the summer, organised by V6 Tom to show off his Wizrdovoz exhaust ;) Unfortunately spent about the first two hours of it sitting in gridlock (there was an event on in Hyde Park, I think, so a bunch of roads were closed). Getting separated by traffic lights was also a bit of a problem. It was worth it to hear the V6s blast through the tunnels though.

I've been out on a couple of pre-dawn runs recently, criss crossing the bridges, driving around Westminster, Buckingham Palace and Horseguards etc. It's amazing how much progress you can make when the streets are practically empty.

Anyway, I'm always up for a London run, or something around the Essex countryside. Maybe once spring arrives?

Essex has lots of flat countryside with winding lanes, an early morning spring run could be fun..
