Hi all, I’m thinking of getting a HUD that connects to my ODB port to reduce the risk of getting pinged by one of the mlllion cameras I go past on the way to work (or the way to anywhere where I live). I’ve had a look at a few on amazon but am a little lost as to what will or won’t work. They seem to ask for ODB II which I think I have, but some say they don’t work with french or Italian cars. Does anyone have any experience of this?

can't comment on the OBD ones but I use a GPS unit as that works on pretty much anything so long as it can get a GPS fix. Very handy as no need to take your eyes off the road and you know the speed shown should be ok past the cameras, also have a laser detector too that's on the rear view mirror stalk for the hiding zappers ;-)

Thanks! That’d work for me, what’s the model?

the HUD I bought a few years back now, a 7-inch display one off amazon IIRC, like this one tho can't recall the maker but its a Q7 too

Tho this one looks interesting

projecting onto its own screen, hmmm if that works it'd be a lot better than sticking a reflector on the windscreen.

One thing I would say, on unlit roads you can find it hard to see the edge if the display is central esp with the p*$$ poor lights we have and the blind-everyone war going on with newer cars and the modified older ones. I have mine on the A-pillar side so my view central and left is easier
