I've just seen a very low mileage, seemingly good condition GTV V6. However, the history is limited at best. It's a 2002 model with 34K miles, first service by main Alfa dealer after a year and 9K miles.

After that it has been serviced by a non-franchise dealer (not Alfa specialist either) twice, most recently about five months ago. However, the book is not stamped and there are no itemised bills, although the seller says it should be possible to get a copy of the last one.

The Cam Belt has NOT been done. The body work is in fair condition, all alloys are marked as it seems to have been a town car.

Would anyone be worried about buying one these that has done predominantly short town journeys?

Would the lack of history matter/concern people in the long run if I brought the car fully up to date now with a major service and cambelt change at an Alfa specialist?

Any other things I sould look for?

The general rule is dont rush in, if he hasnt got all the history it prob hasnt been looked after by an enthusiast, I'd be very careful. Might be worth checking out the garage. But if its really cheap the price difference might give you comfort. I paid over the odds for mine but it was loved by the previous owner, almost in tears as I drove off (he was emigrating). So far its been a good buy with only consumables to replace.

This wouldn't worry me too much if the 34000 mileage is genuine. There won't have been anything massively important that a non specialist could miss in that time. It could be a good bargaining tool when it comes to purchase time. If you do buy it make sure you have your service done as you said and all should be well.
Do listen out for noisy rear suspension, the bushes can wear very quickly on GTVs especially on a car used around town a lot(speed bumps etc)

At the end of the day if you are not happy about something you can get an engineer report through the AA or RAC. If after that you are at all uncertain you can always walk away. Always more fish in the pond.

It's on ebay at the moment and had gone up to £5100 last time I looked.

I think, all in, I'd only probably only have paid £5K so this one is out for me. With all the little blemishes in the body work and wheels, no documented history and the major service and cambelt needed I think much over £5K is too much unless your able to do the work yourself.

The advert is a little misleading in the description but the guy seemed very genuine so I'm sure the car is generally ok.
