Hi,
Just joined and sending my first message.

Bought a 1999 GTV recently, was well looked after and serviced.
On an outing, the steering suddenly went heavy on parking and had to return home with a lot of additional muscle power. No oil leaks and belts are fine. Seems that pump has packed in. Are new ones that expensive, and is it worth going for a used one.

Is your car a twin-spark? If so, price for a new pump was around £250 in UK....plus fitting, of course, which is a pain.....

It may well be worth fitting secondhand - the 156 pumps are basically the same and in UK at least there are plenty about - though I seldom sell one as they rarely fail - although they can get noisy....

Hope that is some help.
