Hi, wondering if anyone can help i bought a 3.0 v6 GTV and after a while i started getting a horrid squealing from the front brakes and they looked pretty knackered so i replaced the discs and pads as i was replacing them i found out the cause of the squealing, on both calipers the liners (shims) where the brake pads sit were missing they are held onto the calipers with an allen key bolt i have tried for about a month now to source the shims without buying a second hand set of Brembo calipers i tried alfa dealer, ebay and tried to find a brembo dealer that does fitting kits for an alfa but cant find anywhere.
does anyone have any advice?
thanks

I wonder who has taken them out? Usually the corrosion under the shims gets real bad and lifts the shim enough to trap the pad. The usual 'bodge' solution is to file down the pad backings a bit, the proper solution is strip the calipers, shot-blast and powder-coat to stop it happening again and then build them back up. I've never heard of anyone using the calipers without shims before, sounds dangerous to me as the pads aren't going to be properly secure in the caliper.
