Hi all i recently changed rear pads now handbreak very weak.. i have used the in car hand break adjuster in car under handbreak cover to i think max with barely much change... it worked fine before with the old pads but they were close to used wiyh maybe 2mm of pad left necessitating the change..

Have i missed something? when i brought the car an initial mechanic mentioned the rear right side had been put on wrong and the spring was on the wrong side.. when my brother changed the pad he said its now correct but he didnt notice it was wrong when removing old pads ..

Many thanks

Did your brother reset the handbrake ratchet system?

i.e. disconnect the cables, pump the footbrake to ensure the pads are in contact with the discs and only then reconnect the cables followed by adjusting the handbrake lever.

If that procedure isn't followed, the actuator arm may be in the wrong place and the handbrake won't work correctly.
