Mot failure for amongst other things 'Exhaust emits an excessive level of metered smoke for a turbo charged engine'. In other words it leaves a plume of black smoke when you give it a boot full.
Anyone got any ideas on where to start to try and find out the problem.
I did first notice the smoke problem after I installed the restricted plate in the EGR valve a few months back, but I realise it may be something else. Many thanks in advance for any ideas.

Boost leaks are common and easy to fix.

Check for holes/splits in the large rubber hoses - one above the battery to the right of the engine bay, and one down low right in behind the bottom of the bumper.. Any holes/splits in these will give you a smokey engine and loss of power.

If you find some damage, get some silicone hoses from Autolusso. Much stronger, perfect fit, and a lifetime warranty :thumbs:

As well as for leaks also check your air filter, a dirty or clogged air filter can give you a smokey engine too...
