Got my car back from garage tonight, everything done on it....

Timing belt
Tensioners
Aux belt
Aux belt tensioners
metal water pump
Antifreeze
oil etc...
spark plugs cleaned

Cost £840 at my independant. Was 48k mile service done at 43k (out of kilter due to ex Alfa UK car). Point to note was belts / tensioners appeared fine, but water pump was on its last legs. He siad there was loads of play in it and he didnt think it had long left! Just a word of warning

No worries. One other thing if you're getting the bits yourself you will need a water pump gasket, as this doesnt come with the water pump (unbelieveably enough!)

I had the timing belt changed at the recent 60,000 km (36k miles) service.

I purchased the parts from Italo-ersatzteile.de and got the parts approx. 50% cheaper than from the official Alfa distributor here in Finland.

I bought the following parts:

Timing belt
2*idlers
Tensioner
Auxiliary belt

The total cost of these parts including delivery costs was approx. 300 euros. The local garage charged 250 euros for the timing belt change so the total cost of the change was 550 euros. Not bad at all in my opinion.

Just had mine done at Jamie Porter in Roysten, Herts. £570 inc vat for full 'big' service inc changing cambelt and tensioners etc (the water pump didnt need doing though), also fitted an aircon pipe for me and regassed the system all in the price....

who was it that said its cheaper to live in the North? ;)

In hindsight I would have sourced the parts myself, as he used the local stealer. He said the parts were around £500. The metal impeller water pump was around £90 from the dealer and he cleaned all the spark plugs, and said they looked like new so should be fine for a while yet.

UKOS - that's a very good price from Jamie. I was planning on going there myself, as I live in Stevenage.

I went to him some years ago when I had my old Escort RS, running twin Dellorto's. It was good to see that he had a rolling road as well.

Might save up the pennies and get him to the the brake upgrade and coilover swap in one go (but that will be some time away yet :( )
