I phoned round a few days ago for quotes on a 3 year service on my GT and this is what I found

1. £390.00
2. £250.00
3. £160.00

It pays to shop around

Make sure you know what you're getting for your money, things are usually cheap for a reason.

I got a cheapo service done at a Nationwide Autocentre, they didn't change the oil filter and screwed up the air filter like an old rag and stuffed it into the airbox. Watch out for cheap services. I'd rather pay a little bit more and know it's being done by someone who knows what they're doing rather than a chimp in overalls

Any chance you could post who the quotes came from
1. £390.00 Perrys Amersham
2. £250.00 Autolusso
3. £160.00 Palmer and Phillips (Oxford)

I have used P+P in the past for work on my 156 and not had any problems with them. The guys there are Alfa/Fiat specialists and only use genuine parts

One thing with them if you go there expecting sparkly spangly waiting area and workshops you'll be disappointed. They are friendly though and are happy to answer any questions you have and have no problem if you want to stand there and watch them work on your car.

Before anyone asks, no I don't know them and this isn't an advert :tut: its just a heads up for some well priced servicing

Once the car's been in I'll let you know how it went

P&P it is then!

The local garage I use is like that, no spangly waiting room, no free coffee machine and wi-fi but good, honest advice from blokes that know Alfas, friendly chaps, reasonable price and places like this are worth their weight in gold

Hence the price difference between Alfa dealers and the indies. The spangly bits are in the dealers because ARUK dictate that the dealer meet certain requirements. These requirements are primarily a result of ARUK asking the Alfa driver what facilities THEY would like to see in the dealerships. All very well for the fleet driver who doesn't pay the bills but not so good for Joe Public. :D Yes I do work for a dealer and no I'm not ashamed of it :p
