Hopefully someone can advise me of the best/cost effective place to get my GT serviced for the 72k in the Worthing/Brighton West Sussex area?

Just spoke to someone at Monza Sports (the one at Ashington, not the c**p one in Portslade) and have been quoted £389 for the service. As i need the waterpump doing, but timing belt has been done they quoted me another £310 for parts (£70) and labour.

They said if i got it all done for £700, they would do a slightly better price and also throw in the cam belt too.

All genuine Alfa parts, 2yr warranty, and comes recommended by a alfa crazed neighbor.

Just seems a bit.... steep. Anyone got any ideas on where else i can phone for a quote, or how much I should be paying? This is my first major alfa service, so thought best done at a garage and stamped.

£700 is way too much. As suggested shop around, be prepared to travel if necessary, you will save money. Make sure by the way when the job is done the full cambelt kit is used (this includes the idle bearing as well as the cambelt and tensioner - the idle bearing is known to seize up, stripping the belt). I presume you have a CF4 engine so the Alfa part number for the kit is 71354559. And yes get the waterpump changed as well, that is an absolute must.

Remember there are good specialists and bad specialists. With the bad ones I include those who may be good but they know they are good, have their heads firmly shoved up their own bottoms, and will charge at least the same, if not more than an official dealer.

I know one of them around here. A bit full of themselves and cash in on the fact that the main franchised dealer is part of a chain with a less-than-sterling reputation (undeserved in this case as the mechanics at the FIAT/Alfa division of the chain are A1 guys and know what they are doing).

Put me right off the guy.

I have never used this guy but he might be worth a try?

Services - west sussex alfa romeo

I was thinking of giving him a call when my 145 needs a belt change.
I used monza sport a few times but ended up feeling thier prices were steep and thier work not as good as others places like Autolusso, day and whites at brands hatch.
Just my personal opinion.

Hi

I can do a full cambelt and waterpump platinum service for £570 inc vat and labour. All genuine Alfa parts.

This includes cambelt kit, waterpump, oil, oil filter, sump washer, fuel filter, air filter, air con service and pollen filter and a whole host of other checks (suspension, brakes, gearbox oil level etc etc) If you want to save some £'s we can always leave off the aircon service and pollen filter.

It is not advisable to re-tension the cambelt, the whole job does need doing again with a fresh cambelt kit.

Feel free to PM me your number or give me a call in the morning - I will be there until 11sh but if you miss me just leave a message and I can call you back.

Cheers, Laurence
