hi 84 i have remove them 2 times on my 2.4 and one time on friends 1.9 ,just lots of wd40 a chisel, hammer and plumer large jaws pliers.start lube them first then with blunt chisel hit them rotational just below the feeding pipe about 20 degrees each side about 20 times and then grab and twist and pull up with plummer pliers will come trust me ,use lots of wd40 and keep twist and pull.
sounds a bit aggressive tbh.. I have got a price for a guy to remove all 4 and replace the gaskets for 100 quid which doesn't seem so bad however I have a few long journeys to do before he can do it . is there any way I can temporarily stop them leaking until he has time to do it that will stop the leakage and not do any lasting damage to the car?
