If at some point I wanted these custom made using metal instead of plastic could it be done and, if so, who could do something like this?

Short of an expensive one off, you'd be looking at contacting an independent foundry or sand caster to make the cast and units for you. For this to make business for them, you're probably talking 5 figures.

It would be a complex job for sure but have a look at white metal casting kits and silicon mould making compounds. you might be able to make something yourself.

Have you ever thought or looked into Electroless Plating? its possible on plastics however not sure what the cost would be or if the shape is a little complex

I know a lute maker who could probably do it in wood CNC from billet alloy should be possible for a couple of kidneys from Custom Online CNC Machine Shop | Free CAD Software
