Hi, hopefully about to replace my 06 GT JTDm with a 58 GT Cloverleaf JTDm.

The newer car has the red sport button by the handbrake, a cloverleaf on the boot lid AND the white triangles on the front panels. Does the latter mean it's also the Q2 version? I didn't check the paperwork close enough but garage thinks it's just the standard 150bhp model... Thanks, Dave

If you have an iPhone - download MyCarCheck and put the reg in - it will give basic details like that.

Alternatively, PM me the reg and I will look it up for you.

EDIT - if you PM me your email address or phone number, I will screenshot the outcome and send it to you.

OR - put the reg into whatcar free valuations or into MoneySupermarket for an insurance set up - that should give details too - unless it's had a plate change from a private reg - depending on when it was done...ALL FREE!!!!!

Well it seems there were 4 cloverleaf versions, only the top model with the sport button so I'm now 99% it'll have the Q2. If I'd gone for a test drive I should have been able to tell the difference with my current model.

1.8 TS
2.0 JTS
1.9 JTDM 16V
1.9 JTDM 16V Q2 170BHP

Just ran the reg and I get GT JTDm Cloverleaf, Black, 1910cc, 147.5 BHP, first registered 31/10/2008, 165 CO2 output.

I also ran the reg of a cloverleaf that has the sport button from Autotrader and it also came up as a circa 150BHP model.

To my knowledge, all coverleafs have the Q2.

Hope that helps.

I always thought it was the 170 bhp diesel that had the Q2 only, similarly to the 147 ducati corse which has the 170 bhp diesel engineand a Q2

Only the 170bhp model has the Q2 diff. If you have the red sports button, then you definitely have a 170bhp model which has the white cloverleaf badges on the front wings.

Thanks Alan, think it's the red sport button that's swinging it for me i.e. it must be the 170 with Q2. Anyone can stick an extra badge on (like the leaf on the boot that I'm not convinced should be there) but surely people didn't add aftermarket buttons?!

I'm going to look at a GT 1.9JTDM Cloverleaf tomorrow. It has side badges and 2 twin exhaust pipes (4 in total). Whatcar valuation says its a cloverleaf special edition. Would this be 150bhp or 170? If its not 170 why the extra exhaust pipes that other clover leafs don't have?

The standard car should have one set of twin exhaust pipes exiting on the passenger's side. Anything different is an aftermarket exhaust system. The crucial thing is the sport button which when you press it should sharpen up throttle response. If you have this, it's the 170 Q2. Anyone can stick the white coverleaf badges on the wings so don't go by that. If the car is an SE or special addition it should have headlamp washers, heated seats and Blue Tooth.

Did a little more detective work, getting hold of the VIN No. and basically the one I'm looking at is actually a Blackline III model despite the cloverleaf badges. Sport button does makes sense but don't think any sign of Q2 diff. All a bit murky for my liking.

Thought Blackline was just a trim special edition, alloys, interior mods but no Q2. Could be time to find another one and leave this one alone if you've got doubts. Maybe try a specialist Alfa retailer, they should ( hopefully ) know there stuff

If it has a sport button then it's almost definitely a Cloverleaf Q2. Although, I suppose it would be possible to retrofit one.

It may have been registered incorrectly as a Blackline.

My 156 JTS Ti was registered as being a 5 door hatchback running on 'heavy oil'.

My 156 JTS saloon was registered as a Sportwagon!...
