Couldnt think of a better title so here goes: on my way home I have to drive a very short but fairly rough piece of country side road, tarmaced but gravelly. I never go over 10mph as the sound from the car underside is reminiscent of the interior noise of Roger Clark's Escort on the RAC. If you now say "ah!" you are as old as me!

Car is a QV on 18s and 225 tyres, no "mudflaps" yet but have carbon ones to fit.

Cant decide if the noise is just the gravel on the arch liners or is it shotblasting the car sides as well, as yet no major chipping problem. Thing was the Giulietta that I drove on the same road for two years never made that much noise.

So are Mitos prone to making a noise like a cement mixer over loose surfaces.

can't say i've noticed anything but the wheel arch liners are plastic so maybe its just the gravel getting pinged up against them and its making a noise? not sure what the wheel arch liners are like on a Giulietta though.

I have 2 large chips in the paint on my drivers side door. looking at the angle of the chip, it is almost certainly from stone flicking up from front wheel. not sure if anyone else has had similar

I went along a road yesterday covered in loose chippings & gravel & it made a load of noise as the gravel etc rattled around in the wheel arches like you said yours does. Think it just sounds worse than it is because the arch liners are plastic  you can make quite a bit of noise by tapping them with your hand so i guess a load of loose stones will be whats making the noise

Not sure what they are like on other models but the 1's on my GTA were a bit like carpet. Hard to explain without seeing them but reminded me a bit of those carpet tiles you can get from b&q  something to stop it rattling against the hard plastic should help though. Maybe a thick coating of that plastidip stuff? I've just sprayed up my number plate holder with it & that goes quite rubbery. Whether that would dull the noise down a bit though??
