Hello all .. new here

A question .. does anyone know of any decent garages in the midlands that I can take my GTV too and get them to check the rear bushes. I had my local alfa dealer take a look and they claimed that they were all ok. That said there is still a hollow knocking sound coming from the rear n/s .. and I don't like the sound of it. So I want to take it somewhere for a second opinion .. any sugestions ??

Thanx ..

Well took my GTV to WAB in Bilston .. they had look at it for about 3 mins .. and found that all 4 of the bushes on the rear arms are well and truly frelled, and there is slight wearing on my sub-frame !!

Luckly they can change them on Sat so I am a happy bunnie .. what I'm not happy about is the fact that my local Alfa dealer looked at the bushes about a month ago and climed there was nothing wrong. Last time I use a sodding dealer.

Firstly you are lucky you caught this in time. Worn rear bushes & loose toe link arms can cause the rear subframe to be damaged beyonf repair and that can cost!!££££ €€€€
Firstly I'd ring the garage & ask them why they did not notice the wear? Did they look at it at all? And did they charge you ? If so ask for that money back!

Also at the end of this imform them that you'll never ever let anyone you know use there useless services again.

If I was in your shoes I would be writing a very stroppy letter to both the dealer, and a copy to Alfa UK.My brother had a Mazda once and the brake caliper fell off after a service. He made absolutely sure he got some compensation from the dealer.

took mine to my dealer for wiper motor and new tyres they gave it back to me having nicked all the stainless valve caps and forgot to put one of the bolts back on the front wheel!!! Maybe I should have kicked up more of a fuss!

As mentioned in an earlier reply, I can truly recommend WAD Automotive in Wolverhamption. Willie and Adrian have looked after all my Alfas over the years and I have nothing but praise for the work he's carried out. Having been disenchanted with various warranty work by 'new' Alfa franchises in the area, independent service agents like WAD are the true lifeblood of us enthusiasts.
And no, I don't work for WAD, I'm just a really satisfied customer.

There was a mention somewhere of an Indie in Leicester which isn't so far from you. We GTV people are getting very twitchy about 'the' rear bushes, tend to forget other causes fo bad noises e.g. anti-roll bar links and bushes. I put up a thread asking if there was room for another specialist in my area, since there didn't seem to be many, thinking of a carreer change. I'm still of a mind that it could be a useful specialism.
