Ok here the thing
2003 156 s/w
was nosing rond the engine bay yesterday doing bits and bobs- its due MOT.
i noticed a wire hanging out from under the plastic cover of the main block.
its a covered wire with black casing but the end is bare and it doesn't seem to attach to anything
its loose bare wire hanging there but i cannot see where its supposed to be?
there is another wire which is bare attached to (i think the alternator) but its red and the other wire is black so they dont seem to belong together.
any ideas i'm stumped.

timing belt etc was done a month or two ago so that was the last time the cover was off
everything else working fine electrically so i cant figure out what this wire is or where its goes to.

i know all you guys out there know your stuff
so any help for a noobie Alfa owner greatly appreciated

thanks

Wire

The only cable I can think of is the one that goes to the A/C compressor. I think that it is a brown wire, thats to say inside the outer black casing

look under the steering wheel, well, under the colulm/cowling, I found a wire just the same :)
it had a green rubber coat.
it was likely just a earth wire. I'm guessing your engine bay wire is too
