Evenin all,
I've had my Brera for just over a week now and she's developed a few probs so she's going back to the garage i got her from tomorrow, (the garage is in Manchester, I'm in York!) to hopefully rectify them.
The Probs are as follows.
1, Clutch pedal not lifting, could this be the master cylinder seal?
2, Hill holder unavailable/vehicle protection system unavailable, clutch microswitch?
3, rough idle when warm, injectors?
4, this morning when starting her from cold, there was a horrendous noise from the engine, like a squealing coming from a belt. on driving home she was back to normal .
5, reluctant to start from cold, glow plugs?
she's a 2008 plate 2.4 jtdm 210 with 39500 on the clock. any thoughts on the above probs would be appreciated before i take her in.
Cheers Chaps

Your clutch isnt getting stuck on the mat is it. Mine sometimes does if it slips forward.

Were did you get it from ... my 159 came from manchester and displayed similar problems .. i know its probably a coincidence but just worth checking ?

The squealing on mine turned out to be turbo noise, bacause it has a variable vaine turbo when they wear and get loose they scrape the housing until the engines warm or till the blades grind down id be surprised on 39k though.

I had to change all my glow plugs immidiately...

Clutch pedal could be master cylinder seal or it could just be the actual pedal mechanism, they can be "sticky".
Hill holder unavailable could be clutch or brake microswitch but after seeing point 1 I'd say it's related to the clutch pedal not lifting correctly.
As for the rough idle, try putting a bottle of injector cleaner in your tank but don't follow the instructions :) add it when you've got less than a quarter of a tank left.
The squeal is probably a worn or not tight enough accesory belt, nothing too sinister.
Starting reluctance, wait a little bit longer between inserting the key and pressing the button (I wait till it says "press brake or clutch to start"), that gives the fuel system time to reach pressure. If it is glow plugs though, they're a cheap enough fix.

Then when you've got that lot fixed, take it to Gus at Alfatune and get him to make it the car it should always have been  (can I get my commision now Gus?) Actually I think there's an Alfa specialist in York that does the Alfatune/AHM map.

Warm idle being rough could well be the infamous coking up of head leading to sticking valves. The BG 244 could be worth a try first though to ensure fuel system is not a problem.

I would be very surprised if the VG vanes made any scraping noises.... if they do, you require a new turbo! I would say squealing is possibly a belt or tensioner just making itself known ;)

You need to contact Gus (Alfatune) about the remap, dpf removal, egr disable pricing. Plus I'm sure he'll give you plenty of free advice as well :) Look for member ALFA TUNER or just google Alfatune.
As for gains, mine is a 2.4 200bhp and I don't know what bhp or torque figures it has now. What I do know is it drives far better, with torque available pretty much anywhere in "normal" driving. It accelerates very smoothly (almost linearly) between 1800rpm to redline.
Basically you really feel like you're driving a very big and powerful engine.
Also my mpg went from 34ish before remap to 39/40 after.

Was that the black one from HPL? I am just up the road and nearly went to look at that one. Ended up with a 2.2 instead. My engine warning light is on already indicating the timing is out. Going back to the dealer in sheffield this weekend :(

in other news, not heard anything from the dealer yet, I've a horrible feeling when i call them tomorrow to ask how its going, their reply will be "not had chance to look at it yet!"
