Back on Feb of this year (2013) there were a few pictures and stories around and about (intrewebs and magazines) about a new Giulietta Sportwagon.

Does anybody know anything about this car?
Is it perhaps scheduled for release with the 2014 facelifts ?
Is it a bogus magazine beat up ?

I only ask as I plan to replace our 156 Sportwagon in the next 12 months and find the 159, whilst beautiful, not as useful (bit big and heavy, high load lip, old tech engines etc).

Anybody know anything about the Giulietta Sportwagon ?

I would have been interested also, but I doubt it very much, especially this late into the lifetime of the G hatch.

Maybe with the G2?

Alfa desperately need some new/more model lines and if the rest of the market is anything to go by, a crossover should be their priority.

As much as some will hate that as did the diehard Porsche fans with the Cayenne, it's a case of what the market wants, not what a few diehard fans (often buying second hand) say they want.

Just because Porsche make a Cayenne shouldn't stop anyone buying a 911.

Same with Alfa. Look what Nissan has done with the Cashcow and the Juke.

So a G wagon, unless anyone knows better, I doubt it.

The Giulietta Sportwagon was originally scheduled for this year, but now appears to be cancelled. There were a couple of renders, one of the interior, but they seem to have disappeared so completely from the web that I suspect they were part of a pre-launch leak campaign that has been pulled.

Giulia is confirmed for a Sportwagon, but yes, a Giulietta Sportwagon would have been a perfect-sized replacement for a 156SW.

Based on a Jeep almost certainly, - I doubt AR have anywhere near the funds to make their own from scratch.

There are a lot of fantasy renderings of jacked up G's on the net.
I wouldn't give much credence to any of them!

Alfa have enough money, but blowing it all on a ground-up SUV would be a complete waste. Especially when they've already got an Alfa-designed SUV: the new Jeep Cherokee, the vehicle which will provide the running gear for the Alfa SUV, is derived from the Giulietta.

I'm not sure Fiat has the money , at least to actually spend on all the products it needs . The current state of the market is as much about maintaing reserves as anything. PSA look like they will have depleted theirs by the end of the year. When I mentioned the ETA for the Giulia this week in Turin the response was not hopeful .

Alfa have designed the new Jeep Cherokee? Really? I'd be surprised if anyone but Jeep designed the new Cherokee, whether it ends up being the basis of any future Alfa SUV/crossover...which inevitably, it will as the 2 companies are now conjoined.

Be surprised, then. Jeep did the bodywork, interior, and made changes to the rear for their 4WD system, but the rest of the car's design comes from FIAT, via Dodge. The Giulietta design was widened and lengthened to build the Dodge Dart, and this design was used by Jeep as the basis of the Cherokee.

See this article for details: (source)
lost in the discussion of the Cherokee's appearance is the fact that the vehicle is built on the Fiat-Chrysler Compact U.S.-Wide platform underpinning the Dodge Dart.

OK, surprised ;) thanks for the link.

Looks interesting. If Alfa don't come up with something soon (2014) I could be in the market for one of these, - always liked the looks of Jeeps, but always found them a bit crude.

But mash up my Giulietta with my X Trail and... Alfa SUV/Cherokee :)
