Browsing through a Car magazine at the checkout counter. They had a shootout between 11 cars abd the Alfa came last. Even at 173kw it seems a bit slow

OMG...Cars In Action tested the GQV to 7.9seconds to 100kph lol...As Eric said, people who give opinions about cars but are clearly bias should not be listend to...do us all a favour and don't waste your moola on those publications, rather spend the R120 and buy the classic cars magazine!

No one ever has anything nice to say about Alfa. It's so extremely annoying.

My one friend work for the people that does all the tests and write ups for the newspapers.
They also tested the Giulietta QV way slower than the 155kw Golf 6 Gti and even had it in a race against his new Gti and the Gti was faster with quite a bit.

Problem with the GQV (and the 1.4MA) is the power delivery.

No doubt the power is there, the problem is getting it onto the road in the right way...

If you rev it to high and try to pull away the "mommy" kicks in and delays power to the wheels giving you a slow time 0-100km/h

Rev it to low and you off to a slow start and not benefiting from the power that is available.

If however you pull away correctly (in my MA's case about 2500 revs on pull away) you get power delivered to the wheels without the mommy kicking in while at the same time making use of the power on tap.

We have a deserted piece of air strip not to far from where I live. A few of my buddies and I tested my G there and made a video recording or two of it. Fastest time we got with the MA was 7.9s (which is what the testers are claiming to get with the GQV). Clearly they not doing it correctly..

Screw 0 - 100s. Nürburgring lap times speak so much louder.

List of Nürburgring Nordschleife lap times - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

There's a video on YouTube comparing the QV to the Golf R32 - which the QV decimates.

For the lazy, the QV does a lap time faster than:
8:30 Alfa Romeo Giulietta QV
8:32 Porsche Boxster S
8:35.00 Ford Focus ST
8:35 Opel Astra OPC 2.0T (240PS)
8:36 Volkswagen Golf Mk5 VW R32 MKV DSG
8:38 Honda NSX
8:39 Honda S2000
8:39 Mazda MAZDASPEED3
8:40 Chevrolet Corvette C5
8:42 Lotus Exige Mk1
8:43.3 SEAT León Cupra R Mk1 Øistein Helland
8:43.52 Chevrolet HHR SS
8:47 Volkswagen Scirocco 2.0 TSI
8:47 Honda Civic Type-R
8:47.99 Opel Corsa OPC
8:51 Ford Focus ST
8:52 Mini Cooper S
8:53 Volkswagen Golf GTI DSG MK5
8:54 Vauxhall Corsa VXR
8:54.38 Opel Zafira OPC
8:55 Range Rover Sport Supercharged (2010)
9:02 Chevrolet Cobalt SS Turbo
9:05 Ford Focus RS Sport Auto (09/2005)
9:09 Volkswagen Lupo GTI

South African car reviewers can't drive for ****.

Another important question is what was the km on the odo.
It definitely seems like you have to do more than a 1000km or something before the management allows all the power.
Maybe the new QV owners can tell us more about that.

Yes there is a video clip of the QV vs the Golf around "The Ring"

The guy fights his @rse off with the Golf, yet in the QV is hands is barely on the steering wheel...

A few more lap times (just different cars)... the funny thing is the VW Golf lap was around the "shorter" course (according to the distances showed by wiki) and the Alfa still kills it :cheese:
