Official Facebook page: "The Alfa Romeo Giulietta, now offering you a 50,000 miles, or 5 year, complementary servicing."

this upsets me

what if I trade it in and get a new one? has the second hand price of my 8 month old Giulietta just fallen because of this? *yes*? ... a new one might save me about £2,000 in services and warranty claims (I do over 17,000miles a year) , so this is non-trivial to me. Any deal that disadvantages early adopters to favour latecomers is pretty poor brand management, as it strikes at those most loyal to the brand hardest.

How do you get to £2000 from 2 services & possibly a few oil changes unless I'm missing something
I presume it's 50,000 miles or 5 years which ever comes first.

And surely warranty claims are irrelevant as they are covered anyway ;)

Yes it's a nice bonus for anyone buying a Giulietta ( or a Mito ) now but I doubt it's really going to have any major effect on the 2nd hand values on used cars, also I'm not sure if the offer will be transferable form the 1st owner on cars with the 50K/5 years deal, anyone seen the T&C ?

Unfortunately this is a marketing ploy played by all businesses that usually benefits newcomers to a product. Just look at CD's and DVD's with extra material, or Sky with their special offers for new customers only

These arent worth an awful lot. As has been said, 2 minor services are covered, which doesnt amount to much. Besides, this is fairly standard practice. New model comes outs, little or no discounts etc.. available. As the model gets on, a few incentives start to appear. Same for all makes of car and again as has been mentioned, plenty of other things.

It's not a 5 year warranty it's 5 years free servicing subject to T&C ;) ( in the UK & Ireland anyway )

It would be nice if they just extended every G's servicing to 5 years, or better still gave them all a 5 year warranty too as some select country's get, but i doubt this would ever happen.

Nintendo have just reduced the price of their 3DS units and are going to compensate early owners by giving them all a free bundle of games. It's a shame that Alfa don't offer some sort of sweetener to us earlier owners, but at least we have our G's to keep us smiling.

True but Alfa's market in SA at the time was "really bad" rather than the "quite bad" in the UK. Obviously they decided more incentives were needed to entice SA buyers.

Perversely it's good to see Alfa making canny decisions to maximise their profit while increasing their market share.

Yes I know. Here (Norway) we don't have the free service for 5 years deal, but they changed the warranty from 3 to 5 years four days after I bought my G. It was just meant as an example of a similar, not identical, situation.

well, I'll downgrade this from "annoyed" to "mildly miffed" and secretly pleased Alfa are actually doing something to improve the brands rep for reliability
got my free service card through the other day.... in reality its the 1st and 2nd services free... 18k and 36k or 2 years and 4 years... i'm happy with that.... will save me around £300 ish....

I wish that was the case...I'm from Cape Town and I don't know of any service plans in the UK like the best ones offered in many cases in SA eg transferrable to second owner, valid for hundreds of thousands of KM's, tyres and filters included...Service plans are def more of a SA thing than a UK thing although they do seem to be on the increase here as people start to count their pennies a little more.

I've just found out that this deal is only valid on cars registered between July and September 2011. I've ordered my G on 1st August and been given a build week of 43 which puts it to a November delivery.
No idea if AR are going to honour the servicing deal as even though it was ordered during the offer period it will not be registered during the same period. Even though AR cannot build my spec before the end of the offer.
