So I’ve had this beauty of a car for around 6 months now. It’s been remapped prior to ownership and has done around 100k miles.

recenently I was driving it and the car started to jerk back and fourth and the Revs kept bouncing up and down. So I just about drove it home to which I thought I’d lay it to rest, I done research and came across so much, Fuel injector problems, mass air flow sensor, lambda sensor. So many things, so I got a mobile mechanic out and the lambda sensor came up as a fault so I bought a new one and fitted it.

also to avoid another call our cost I got my own odb2 reader……
I fitted new lambda but it still was jerking back and forth and would then just turn off. Everytime id turn it on the engine would run for 5 seconds then turn off and would present no code.

so I done a lil trick to see what the problem was, I unplugged the mass air flow sensor and…. POW it started working there was no Rev bouncing no jerking and kept running… reduced power but it was able to drive.

so I bought a new mass air flow sensor hooked it up and then plugged it in as I tried cleaning the old one and the same jerking, rev bouncing and engine turn off came back.

new one in and still same issue at first…. However as I Revd it abit more the jerking wasn’t so rough and it didn’t shut off anymore so I could eventually drive it…

Then an engine light came on then the
P2002 -
Particulate trap, Bank 1, Efficiency Below Threshold

so I was like hmmmm maybe my DPF is clogged so let me get some DPF cleaner from Halfords and maybe this will solve all my problems with the now minimal jerking and unstable Revs… I drove from coventry to Birmingham 15 mins drive or so on a motorway at 3000rpm to get the cleaner going smoke started to come out the exhaust so I was like okay… the Dpf cleaner is starting to do its job.

then a code came up
P0238 - Turbocharger/Supercharger boost pressure sensor A high input

so I said okay let me just make my way back to coventry… As I was driving back the car was fine then I put it in to Gear 5 and it started to lose power, I down shifted and it didn’t make a change then eventually the car came to a stop, loads of a black smoke was coming out, everytime I turned the engine on it stalled when putting it into gear, couldn’t rev the engine I was stuck.

got it towed and the guy is telling me it’s most likely the DPF is clogged as if it was the turbo the engine would still run and you could Rev it and smoke would come out the back. But because the car keeps turning off it’s most likely the DPF.

with all of this information could we say the main problem has always been the DPF being clogged. If so I’m thinking to get it flushed £325 (which I’ve heard the code comes back after a few days anyways, so abit skeptics) or to get it gutted and welded to heighten my chances of passing an MOT, or buy a used one for idk £300 on eBay.

or at this point should I just get it towed to a garage and let them look and deal with it.

Thanks lads, I’m going to try check if there’s any play on the Turbo, I also heard the map sensor could be an issue but I assumed the Map and mass air flow sensor was the same thing Lool #rookieThinking.

If it is the remap that’s playing up would a normal garage be able to tell? Or would I have to take it to a tuning centre?

Lool thanks I was starting to get worried thinking what’s this unplugged for x_x…. But yeah I will look into this map sensor situation aswell, but I think all this oil and soot on the engine has to make me go to a mechanic, I’ll keep everyone posted about what he says when I get it towed there.

The first oil leak I would not worry about just yet as that looks just like the vac pump gasket is leaking.
Bit oily round by the intercooler which could well be contributing, could be intercooler itself leaking or it’s blowing from the hose under pressure and spraying around.
That pic of turbo take the clic-r clip off and pull inlet pipe off and have a feel of the turbo for play etc.
