Got my car back from its 30 000km service

Sparkplugs replaced
Oil filters replaced

The diagnostics picked up one error...

After hitting the pothole I mentioned on this forum that it feels like power is sometimes delayed to the front tyres and traction control kicks in to quickly.

The ECU diagnostics error was related to the DNA system. Specifically to Dynamic. The ECU intermittantly sent the signal to the car that it was in Dynamic. This explains the "delay" in power delivery and the traction control kicking in so quickly.

The error was deleted and seems to be working fine now. Took it for a 60km spin and all seems well.

There was an 8C red Giulietta QV with sunroof and 8C mags on the showroom floor!!! :wow: :wow:

Zeff,

No oil change.. They had a look at the oil and showed me a sample of it before I took my car. It looks as good as new.. Seems like this little multiair doesnt go thru oil like some of the other Alfa engines...

Cant stop thinking about the 8C Red QV! That car looked amazing! If the 4C comes in that paint I am sure as hell getting it in that paint colour!!

So when do they change it then?

They said I can pop in at 40 000km's again so they can have a look... Apparently a few Mito QV's had oil changes at only 45 000km's... Will take it to them in 5000km's time and ask them to change it. Regardless of whether it needs changing or not.

Note I had my oil changed at about 1500km.. Personal preference to change the oil early in a new engine....

So they test the oil on our cars and only change it if they feel it needs to be?

I don't like that idea. I will be having mine changed every 15 000km regardless.

Emanuel,

With regards to ECU update. No update for my car.. As my car still has the latest ECU software for the G

Its definitely NOT a hub... Had the dealer check it today and then went to two different wheel alignment centers to check it out. It was my right front tyre that had a micro tear (hence the vibration at 140km/h)...

The traction control kicking in and my car acting up when flooring it in Dynamic was due to the error on the ECU.

Right rear mag is buckled though

Our [email protected] roads are seriously screwing up my 4C saving plans

Do you remember me telling you to look out for a tear in the tyre when it happened a few months back......similar thing happened to me, but mine just bubbled like a tennis ball on the side. Found a nice gash on the inside of the tyre when I replaced it.

Yeah I wouldn't mind throwing her around the track... Need to paint my G yellow tho so it matches Zeff's yellow human canon ball helmet :cheese:

Yeah I remember you telling me that... But the tyre that hit the pothole was put at the back after taking your advice. That removed some of the vibration. Seems that pothole damaged both tyres in the end. I have spent just under R12K on tyres this year :(

Might be cheaper to spray paint the helmet red:p

this is exactly, why i dont bring my alfa close to the dealer and rather service it myself, ill probably end up struggling to sell it trying to convince the potential buyer that it has been serviced everytime with the finest products but heck i like to sleep at night....... "Just checked the oil" is unacceptable to me.....

To me it looks like these 'maitanance/service plans' are getting worse and worse , they give you around 100k maintanance or 5 years and then change the oil twice? On my other cars the service plan always expired when a 'big' service was due like cambelt change.
Out of interest if you did not do high mileage would it be serviced annually irrespective of distance travelled?

Jip it would be serviced annually if i didnt do high mileage....

Well I had my oil replaced very early on in the car's life. So technically its the second batch of oil in my car.. Ill have it replaced at 40 000km's again and then at the 60 000km service.

For now all is good on my G (until I hit another pothole :cheese: )
