Hi All,

Apologies if this sounds newbie-ish but that what I am when it comes to Alfa's.

I have bought myself a 2011 Giulietta, the 170 bhp turbo diesel one.

My question is, is the turbo engaged in normal mode or just in dynamic?

The power delivery seems very smooth and un-turbo like in normal but goes like stink in dynamic...

If so, does anyone know where in the rev range the turbo kicks in?

It is active in both modes, but it does come in a bit harder earlier in the rev range in dynamic.

Anywhere from just above tick over until the red line and you should have boost.

I find myself driving in dynamic all of the time. In comparison normal and all weather are like driving with the handbrake still on.

Strictly speaking I think it may come in a little earlier in 'N' since peak torque is at only 1500rpm (1750rpm for 'D').

I have to say I find no shortage of boost in 'N'

no, doesn't come in earlier, but the boost continues to build past 1500 rpm in D-mode.

I drive A-mode mostly in my tct. D uses very high revs in auto-shifting (no lower than 1700 rpm and upto redline or beyond) and N + D are reluctant to shift down to 1st gear, while A-mode fixes all that.
