which cars do you drive and why? Alfa Romeo 147 - Back when the 145 came out I really wanted one but couldn't justify the expense at 22 years of age, I loved the look of the GTV and the Spider and there was just 'something' about the cars that struck a chord deep within me. Later when the 145 was replaced by the 147 I fell in love again and again could not justify the expense.

A couple of years ago I started looking at buying a 156, my ideal would have been a JTD in Proteo Red. I didn't even think about buying a 147 because I thought they'd be out of my price range. I actually went to have a look at a 156 and my 147 was on the forecourt at £6500 well within my budget and I was smitten so I bought it on the spot.

I also drive an Audi A3 on a daily basis and it's a nice comfortable no thought involved drive, unlike the 147 which demands my total attention.

Are you a real passionate for Alfa Romeo? I think I'm passionate about most things Italian (except football), I love good espresso, I love the cars and most of all I love the culture.

What or how started your passion for Alfa Romeo and do you think it's fundamental to own one to have the passion? I can't really remember what kick-started my passion, could have been as simple as someone saying 'Alfa's were cool' in the playground at school. Whatever it was, it stuck and in some small way I think it shaped my attitudes about what I liked in a car.

I do think you have to own an Alfa to be passionate about them. I feel that Passion comes when you tread the line between love and hate and you can only know this buy owning one.

Would you ever consider joining an Alfa Club or are you already a member of one? I'm a member of AlfaOwner and AROC, is that enough?

What do you like most about Alfas? Style.

What do you like least about Alfas? Their image in the eye's of other people.

What would be your dream cars?

Yellow Italdesign Cala (Lamborghini Concept)
Lime Green Lamborghini Miura P400
Black Ferrari 250 GTO

What car would you least like to drive? Ford Ka - They have the least comfortable seats of any car I've ever driven

For you, what is the most popular thread on AO? Dunno, anything with Lambo's in it. :)

What would be your ideal drive in an Alfa (destination, passenger, driving music, etc)? Driving down out of the Alp's in Northern Italy with Puccini on the Stereo and my girl by my side.

Any humorous Alfa or car-related stories you wish to share with us? Once years ago when I had a mini it got trashed at the Miles of Mini's record attempt. We camped next to a BMX track at the leisure centre and after a few beers one thing led to another and the mini's were... BMX'd

:D

What interests do you have outside of Alfas? Love listening to Music, playing on XBOX, Reading, Art and Photography and any Adrenaline Junky sport that comes along, I've competed at various Martial Art's and I'm now a practitioner of Kickboxing which is probably the best all round discipline and keeps you VERY fit.

Tell us something nobody knows about you. (E.g. special skill, ever been on TV, etc) I crashed my old Escort 7 times.

Do you have a party trick? If so what is it? I can do press-ups standing on my head.

What do you like most about the Alfaowner forum? Any favourite threads, episodes or people? I like the fact that people aren't afraid to get involved and in the time I've been a member there have been very few serious incidents.

If you had £50,000 you had to spend in 72 hours, how would you choose to spend it? Buy a nearly new Maserati Spyder

You should get a Dyson for that fluff problem Ghosty...........:)
A Dyson doesn't have strong enough suction for my fluff.

(She's about to read this so I'm off upstairs out the way now)

you crashed your escort 7 times? why didn't you just sell it if you wanted rid of it that badly? nice interview btw fella:cool:
Cheers Al,

Yeah the old Escort seemed to be burdened with this streak of terrible bad luck. I think due to the shape some of the panels were that the car had been spun 360 and damaged quite badly before I even bought it.

It was very good at doing lot's of damage to other cars though and at 10 years old (when I sold it) it looked brand new.

Btw GhostyDog, what's your Cannondale?
It's quite an old one, an SM700 IIRC, full 7000 ally hardtail though and full bike weighs about 19 lbs. Hybrid Deore Groupset and Very lightweight Mavic Rims. Think it probably cost a fortune for the original owner about 15 years ago.

Weight makes ALL the difference.

Ah I used to have an M1000, think I got that in 1991, was about 800 quid back then! I've still got the frame somewhere. Had XT throughout and rigid front forks!
I'm now riding a CAAD7 road bike (summer) with Ultegra and Ksyruim SSC wheels.
And a CAAD4 with old Ultegra for the winter ;)
