After having a nightmare over christmas/January/Feb period with Sciatica, im finally getting round to putting the gearbox back on the engine on my late P1 2.0TS 16v Spider. I remember when removing the gearbox that there was only one guide/sleeve on the rear of the engine. Is this normal? Or Should there be two? I noticed the clutch removed was unevenly worn, so im thinking a missing guide might be the culprit? ... Might i be barking up the wrong tree? :)

Thanks in advance as always for any guidance/advice.

It is possible there is one on the engine, and one on the gearbox.

I have a TS engine in my garage, I'll check what is on that one if I remember ...

I had a look at my engine, and there are 2 locating holes, one each side.
The lugs are in fact removable collets, and could be in either the engine or gearbox.

It could be that one had fallen out of the gearbox if it was removed.

I dont think the fact one is missing would cause too much of a problem, as they only help line the gearbox up to the engine so the bolts go in nice and straight and don't cross thread.
As long as all the other bolts are in there would only be a mis-alignment of maybe 1-2mm on the outside, which means a fraction of that in the middle where the shaft is.

Perhaps when the clutch was put in it wasn't installed correctly, causing uneven wear.
