Gearbox Issues

So I'm having some gearbox issues. Wondering if anyone can shed any light on this.

1st is a pain in the arse to engage. 8/10 it will not go in, or has to with some force. It doesn't crunch. However if when I am trying to put it in, I lift the clutch ever so slightly it does seem to go in just fine with no resistance...

If I do a normal gearchange from 2nd to 3rd it crunches (not a lot but just like it catches...) If I do a 2nd-3rd change very slowly it goes in fine with no noise. Also if I do it very fast it goes in fine with no noise.

My reverse gear is as bad as first its a nightmare to engage, but then sometimes it slips in beautifully.

And the other day I managed to someone lock the car out of all gears with it stuck in neutral. I had to actually get out of the car and push it forward slightly to allow me to put it in 1st. Although it hasn't done that since.

Anyone got any ideas? Is the slave cylinder on its way out? Is it a release bearing? Or is my gearbox knackered? :(

I also have a slight grinding noise which sounds like a brake disc shield touching the discs....its only there in 1st and 2nd and a bit of 3rd but not as loud... It is there when I engage 2nd and before I even lift the clutch to allow the gear to catch.

It's just had a Q2 installed but it was doing this before I had it put in. At that point the NS driveshaft bearing had excess movement...

It is drivable. Gears 4,5 and 6 are lovel with no problems but 1st in particular is driving me nuts..

All I can say is get it over to Felice and he'll have it sorted in no time and at little cost hopefully :)
Nothing can be done before I drive to Italy on Tuesday.

Totally off topic but are you driving to Italy in the GTA?
GT 3.2 yup.

Oh blast, erm have the engine mounts been checked or changed at all bud? As I know I had selection issues (not the same as you mind) which was sorted by the mounts.

Fingers crossed its sorted soon bud :)
Maybe a clutch issue or input shaft bearing?
Off topic again. But I would love to take a wee trip in the 147 in September. If you don't mind me asking how long is the trip and how much have you budgeted for fuel??
Maybe a clutch issue or input shaft bearing?
I'm thinking that Dan. Input shaft bearing? Is that in the gearbox itself?
Looks like a new gearbox after the holiday then.. :(
I'd say clutch, my GT did the same thing when the clutch went, couldn't engage a gear at all.

Shame, 3.0 box will do or if you fancy something a little more crazy the 2.5 would be a nice upgrade

Try bleading the slave cylinder?

I can vouch for a 3.0 box. Works very nicely and found one for dirt cheap. My GTA gearbox did similar stuff to yours.. hard to engage first, 4th gear crunched for a while, until it eventually went bang, and then it just wouldn't stay in 4th at all. would just pop out into neutral. I'm sure it's repairable.. Then again, with all those things going on with your gearbox, maybe something else is amiss if this has all just 'suddenly' appeared.
I'd be very worried driving to Italy with possible clutch/box problems... can you take any other car?
Dr GTA, managed to get it sorted and figured out what it was??

I feel I have a very mild version of the same thing.
It should last my trip to Italy. i think I have sourced a replacement for when I get back.

I'll try and bleed the slave cylinder over the weekend. See if that helps.

Thanks chaps.
