So I'm having some gearbox issues. Wondering if anyone can shed any light on this.
1st is a pain in the arse to engage. 8/10 it will not go in, or has to with some force. It doesn't crunch. However if when I am trying to put it in, I lift the clutch ever so slightly it does seem to go in just fine with no resistance...
If I do a normal gearchange from 2nd to 3rd it crunches (not a lot but just like it catches...) If I do a 2nd-3rd change very slowly it goes in fine with no noise. Also if I do it very fast it goes in fine with no noise.
My reverse gear is as bad as first its a nightmare to engage, but then sometimes it slips in beautifully.
And the other day I managed to someone lock the car out of all gears with it stuck in neutral. I had to actually get out of the car and push it forward slightly to allow me to put it in 1st. Although it hasn't done that since.
Anyone got any ideas? Is the slave cylinder on its way out? Is it a release bearing? Or is my gearbox knackered?
I also have a slight grinding noise which sounds like a brake disc shield touching the discs....its only there in 1st and 2nd and a bit of 3rd but not as loud... It is there when I engage 2nd and before I even lift the clutch to allow the gear to catch.
It's just had a Q2 installed but it was doing this before I had it put in. At that point the NS driveshaft bearing had excess movement...
It is drivable. Gears 4,5 and 6 are lovel with no problems but 1st in particular is driving me nuts..
