I have been performing an engine swap on a GTV 2.0 and have just got the engine and gearbox back in and am in the process or re-connecting everything. Anyway I hooked up all the gear linkages and tested the gearstick but I could not get reverse, or if I did manage to force it in I couldn't get it out again. So I got the Mrs in the car and got her to try whilst I checked the linkages and it looks as tough the linkage that engages gears (i.e. up and down on the gearstick) is getting caught on the fixed linkage / plate when the vertical selection is fully out. Anyone got any bright ideas? Have I put it back together wrong, or have I bent something in the process?
