156 2001 2ltr SW selespeed

I replaced the fuel pump thinking it would fix my issues with the fuel gauge, but it has not.

Ive tested the electrics on the 2 small wires in the plug (going into the fuel pump) and there is no voltage been registered when the ignition is on at all.

iv been tracing the wires down the side of the car and I cant find much wrong with the whole thing.

Is it a job for an auto electrician?

I dont know if this is related but when the ignition is off and I turn the radio on, the lights in the small square dash section come on bright and then dim after a second, and the speedo lights up with mileage and a couple of other lights. On the rev counter side I think only the selespeed oil light flashes.

very random! All I wanted was a rough guide on fuel lol

As discussed last night, that feedback of power into the lighting circuit is a bit worrying.....I do suggest you disconnect the radio and see what difference that makes to your syptoms....;)

I was really really pissed off about 15 minutes ago...and then I thought I would just check the wiring loom down by the drivers feet.....

guess what??!!......

a pink and black wire had been chewed. the same pink and black wire that feeds the fuel sender unit....the car did have 5 mice until they were killed with a trap last year.

I have reconnected the pink and black wire and the ****ing fuel sender ****ing works!!!!!!!!

sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Happy!

not sure about the radio yet, but if this is the case I bet the mice have been chewing more wires.
