[Axlestand]

On my '73 2000 GTV what should keep the fuel filler flap closed?

a) Gravity
b) A latch of some description that I'm missing?

And I'd be willing to bet the spring is still there but only attached to the bodywork side...

Reattaching it involves having hands the size of a toddler but arms like an chimp, luckily that is exactly how Crimewatch would describe me!

A long pair of needle-nose pliars and a lot of patience will be a good starting point.

A successful cheat I have used as my spring mechanism failed was to just get a small high strength magnet (I think mine is smaller than a 5p coin) , put it on the inside of the fuel flap on the bottom corner. It then happily holds the flap closed.

Plus one for the small magnet ! I used one on the flap on my grp bodied GTA Rep, glued that onto the flap, then glued a small square of steel sheet onto the body.just about to do the same job on my Ti Super Rep

I put 2 small (about size of old half penny) molybdenum magnets on the inside of the boot, inside the fuel flap. So can't be seen, but strong enough to hold well.
