Well I tried to replace my front wiper linkage today as it has been broken for ages, however I cannot get the wiper arms off, the nuts are off no problem but I cannot get the arms off, and in the process of trying to get them off I have now completely snapped the passengers side linkage too so now I have no wipers at all!!

How the hell do you get them off? I have used almost an entire can of WD40 on the spindles but they won't move even a micrometer! HELP!

Press the short section of the arm toward the screen and it should break free from the splines. If it doesn't apply a bit of leverage under it with a screwdriver or similar. Be careful not to slip or you will scratch the paint.

WD40 is poor for releasing, Plusgas never fails to do the job.
The problem is the tapered splines sieze in. no amount of pulling will release them as you just apply more pressure on one side or the other. Get someone to hold a chock of wood over the end of the wiper spindle (to protect the thread) and give the wood a tap with a hammer while wiggling the wiper arm at the same time . The splines should release no problem.

Good old Plus gas over night, then if still stuck fast try spring hammering using a fairly lightweight hammer, panel type if you have one, against a suitable flat dolly or some other steel block? Or two hammers with co-ordinated blows one against the other with the splined female part 'atween the two dingers?

Good old plus gas, you have recommended it before Zed worked a treat on the passengers side one :D ended up sawing the drivers side one off  all changed now, at last, now I have working wipers :D:D:D:D:D

brought one but used it on a well seized one and it snapped.
i snapped the passengers linkage so was going to saw it off like the drivers side as even one of those jobbies wouldn't have got the buggers off! Now I feel anther huge sense of manliness raawwwwrrrr :cheese:

Thanks everyone for the help

Passenger wiper arm seized on.

I had a similar "seizure" issue with the passenger arm, struggled for ages and also tried the WD40 uselessness, in the end I put a block of wood the sort of correct thickness under the arm close to the drive spindle and then tapped the end of the spindle with the nut back on to protect the thread. Result, off in two taps.
