Hi, this is my first post so please be patient... I have had the squeek on the front corner of my 03 reg 147jtd. I replaced the upper wishbone as sugested in several posts. It worked for aprox 400 miles... the squeek is back. Has anyone got any more ideas?? Many thanks for your thoughts.

I had a faulty O/S front top wishbone replaced- it would only squeek when cold and you could feel the play if you grabbed the wheel and pulled on it. (also when Cold)...

I would advise you bite the bullet and take it to an alfa specialist - they should be able to pinpoint it.. other than that it's just guess work really.. shocker..lower wishbone.. etc

it is the sound of the metal bush insert rubbing against the wishbone bolt. Get some WD40 or silicon lube spray and spray some over the pivot point of the upper wishbone. You won't need to replace the wishbone unless you hear it knocking.

when you do the WD40 or silicone spray then do one bush at a time until you find which one a causing the squeak

Squeaking indicates the bushes have loosened due to wear. Use silicon spray to prolong their life beofre they need replacing due to knocking.

I have done my upper ones as well but unfortunately this Squeaking noise didn't stop. I think it is coming from the middle of the car and not really from the wish bones... :( Its really makes me mad!!! cos I don't know what to do... Wish bones are new bay the way!

The lower balljoint can also make a noise, but that is more of a screeching sound.

If the front anti roll bar is worn, that can produce a similar noise to the top arm bushes. Note I say anti roll bar, and not it's D bushes. The anti roll bar comes as an assembly with D bushes and brackets. Aftermarket poly U bushes can be bought, but it looks a pain to fit as the original brackets must be reused, and they are not really meant to come apart.

Best speak to someone with experience though. I think it will save money in the long run.

with my car it has only been noisy after few miles... it is quiet when its cold... I have sprayed upper and bottom wish bones and I was thinking to look under my car for more details but I haven't got to much chance yet.

Well, Just test driven it for the umpteenth time, sprayed wishbone bolt/rubber and all manner of other bits.... still squeeks! Temperature makes no differance, squeeks as soon as I pull off the drive. Think Ill have to take it in and dig deep into my wallet!!!

How do you check the engine mounts? Not something I have any experience of doing?
