Got the car back from the alfa mechanic, they found that the front driveshaft seal is leaking transmission fluid (diff side). Apparently gearbox has to be removed and sent away which is too expensive.

One last change before i decide to get rid of it, can i add Transmission Stop Leak?

Do you have a spare car?

You could DIY the job, i also just changed this seal. I will be putting a post in my clutch guide about this.

Gear box will need two people to lift off and just to place to one side.

Pretty sure OP car is an auto (sportronic), and yours is a manual.

DO they use a common differential - which then shares gearbox oil I suppose

There is a guide to the sporto box somewhere round here, should give a clue if the seal can be changed ini-situ or not. The manual box is easy, can't imagine the auto box will be much worse tbh.

Didn't pay too much attention when doing the cv recently, but I reckon the left side seal would be simple enough to change once the shaft is out.
