Can anyone suggest a cause for the frightening increase in fuel consumption that my car has exhibited in the last couple of weeks?

It's gone up by almost a third!!! :(

Now, I've recently de-catted, so I immediately suspect this area as a problem. Lambda probe perhaps? Is there an easy way of testing it?

Hi there. Me had the same a month ago. What I did was i went to the car shop and asked for some fluid to reduce fuel consumption. They gave me a bottle of Valvoline stuff ( 7 euro). It went up form 1:8 to 1:12. It really works !

The easiest way to test the Lambda would be to plug it into a fiat tester. If your exhaust doesn't blow, you might be able to tell fairly accurately from the CO reading but I'm not sure how your removal of the CATS would effect that.
