Good evening -
I wonder, can anyone recommend somewhere reliable I can get a set of (small end) conrod bearings pressed in and machined out to size. I'm in South east london and have tried two places so far (best not name and shame though?) the first company fitted them but didn't press them in properly , then didn't machine them out enough , so the gudgeon pins wouldn't fit. worryingly this place claimed to work on aircraft engines(!) .
I tried somewhere else... a bit better this time as the gudgeon pins fit correctly, but this time they've not machined the bearings out square, so when fitted, paying carefull attention to the 'handed' conrods, the pistons (when viewing the engine side-on) lean over and jam in the liners. Annoyingly I've spent today taking apart hours of work, rather than finishing the bottom end as I'd hoped.

Any recommendations would be welcome!

TIA

Jon

Bit far away, but I use a place called CMS in Bracknell. Proper old school machine shop, I've never needed to take Alfa bits to them, but the weird and wonderful diesel bits I have taken have come back spot on.

Your local Alfa specialist will have a tame machine shop who is used to this sort of stuff.

This is a very simple job for a machine shop. You should be able to take it to anywhere that does re builds. You've been very unlucky to find two duffers. If nobody on here can help with a local place, consider shipping them out to someone further away or contact a specialist such as Alfaholics.
