Gentleman,

I would like to know your idea and suggestion on my plan to convert my 156 2L TS SS from Selespeed to 146Ti gearbox. It's recommended? or any pro and cons?

Selespeed, to be honest I love it. But, I need more comfortable, greater driving satisfaction, more handling and more braking capacity and for everyday driving experience with racetrack sensation.

Please advise. Thank you.

I know the 156 and 146 gearboxes are different. The 156 used 2 bowden cables for the gear linkage whereas the 146 is a 3 rod linkage. I think you would have to be quite creative, but really, a 156 or 147 box is really what you need. It would save so much difficulty. You would also be able to use standard hydraulic fittings rather than a lot of bespoke things to make it work. Alternatively, you could cannabilise one 156/47 and at least you would know exactly how everything fits.

You would still have to overcome modifying the ECU programming to forget about the Selespeed system so no fault codes are thrown up. Alternatively, the keys, Code system and ECU from the donor car could be used.

Four words, 'Not Worth The Hassle', sums it up imo.:(: Sorry that's the way I'd view it, but if you are game, proving this Doubting Thomas wrong could be satisfying?:D

Thank you for your prompt reply gentleman, I still looking for any solution on gearbox and doing some research before spend budget on the project.

I did searching on google and I found http://www.alfaworkshop.co.uk/156-147-GT-Q2%20Differential.shtml is one of the best solution.

I'll check with Alfa Specialist this morning to confirm @ get any idea on this.

If any of you guys have convert the 146Ti / Q2 gearbox on to your 156 2L TS SS please advise and give a comment.

Thank you.

The Q2 is a differential, not a gearbox and it doesn't fit any of the 5-speed TS/JTS boxes anyway.

As for converting a Selespeed to manual, I'm with ZF: 'Not Worth The Hassle'.
