Probably worth asking in here:

Yorkshire - Alfa Romeo Forum

If anyone can recommend an Alfa indy or even has laptop/software that would read the code for you?

What issue are you having?

chaddie72: Tell us more about your 156 ... year, engine, etc ... that way we can help more. But if it's an early one, most "generic" code readers just produce garbage.

You can read your own codes with a laptop with USB port, a VAG-COM KKL USB interface cable and a copy of FiatEcuScan (Free) or AlfaDiag (AlfaDiag Alfa Romeo Diagnostic Software).

When you consider getting a garage to read the codes can cost a lot (dealers will charge around £80-100 a time!), the cost of the software and cable will pay back in no time!!

What fumes? Petrol? Running rich probably .. what's the mpg like?

Hi Gazza82,

My 156 is a 52 plate 2.0 JTS Lusso.

When driving you can't smell the fumes but get the smell when the engine is first started and when stationary (at traffic lights etc). It does seem to be using a fair bit of petrol though...

I'm not at all mechanically minded so hope this info helps you to help me!!!

Cheers,

Chaddie72
