Hi,

Think I might have found the cause of uneven tickover fault code P0340 cam angle sensor

Any one know where I get access to this to check connection?

Also how much of a job to change?

Blue plug at the back/left of the engine.

Changing the sensor means taking the cam belt etc off though.

Has is had a belt change recently? One cause of failure is the sensor ring on the exhaust cam pulley being bent when incorrectly holding the pulley to tighten it...

Yes it had belts done a few month ago, will have a go at checking the sensor signals out with multi meter.

Any tips on changing the cam shaft sensor (not doing it myself but will be with mechanic when he does it )..

I hate to say it but its normally a sign of a lazy mechanic if it has just started since a cam belt change.:rant:

Lazy mechanic... It would be great just to find one who did not look like a question mark when you pull up with an Alfa...
I am off to my Italian friend at AutoMedics tomorrow, after my normal garage gracefully stated that they did not know too much about fixing it and could I bring them a Mondeo instead... They did however give me the fault code and a long list of possible faults, which was close to what this tread states. It actually takes a half decent garage to turn work away if they don’t really fancy their changes on the Italian jewel.. so well done to them for that.
