P0336 Reference marks (teeth !=60)

Is the code you'll get....if you're a muppet and forget to connect the vacuum pipe to the top of the throttle body (CF2 TS)

It will also run like a dog, and backfire.

Easy fixed though!

Ok, looks like I was talking complete hooey with this one!

I do have a faulty crank sensor. It has been changed though (original one was left dangling against the exhaust ), so I'm wondering if it's the double o-ring issue.

Starts and runs ok, just objects to going above 3,500 rpm (it's like it hits a rev-limiter, and the ECU light comes on). It throws:

Failed Component Code: Reference marks (teeth != 60)
Fault Symptom: Signal Not Plausible
Warning Lamp Status: Warning Lamp Illuminated
Fault Test State: Test complete for this Error or not applicable.
Fault Code Storage State: Error Not Present at time of request
Event Count: 81 count
Filter Count: 0 count
Environmental Condition One: Filtered Load: 4900 uS
Environmental Condition Two: Engine Coolant Temp: 67.2 °C

I will check/change it over the weekend :)

Hmmm, DTC Search suggests Crankshaft position sensor.... might indeed be worth another look.

All the best

Texted the guy I got the car off tonight. He changed the crank sensor a while back. Had the ecu light on since, but it was running ok.

I think I'm going to find an extra o-ring in the 'ole. If not, I'll swap it. No problemo!
