Hi.

A time of mixed feelings going on. I have bought a 2005 1.9 jtd sportwagon, and need to say good bye to my beloved and trusted 156 1.8ts. I really do not know what to do with it. It's probably not worth more than £400 if I could find a buyer, so may have to scrap it. It is a 2001 veloce with 126,000 miles, leather, all the work done except cam belt which will need doing at Christmas, and drives better than when I got it at 72,000 six years ago. The body work is a bit ropey though. This is not an ad, as I have resigned myself to taking it to the great garage in the sky. It is a strange car market these days that such a reliable and great car should be worth so little.

To compare the 1.8ts and 1.9 jtd is like chalk and cheese really, I like both for different reasons. I willl miss the 1.8 throaty thottle and reponsive pick up though.

You don't say where you are, but assuming you are in UK, I wouldn't scrap it - you'd probably get £150 - £200 .....I'd reckon Ebay would probably get you £300+ or try gumtree....

If you can strip it yourself you'll make more, even if you only sell the engine for a bargain £200 or so. The cat is worth about £80, and the rest of the car will fetch £140 or so - scrap is £160/tonne around my area.

Thanks for the advice. Have been offered £200 by breaker (i'm in Enfield N London), but may put it on ebay, still breaks my heart though, it's sitting outside looking at me like a lost puppy!.
