Have you checked both main and dip beam bulbs are seated properly?

Main & dip are locked together, so one or other isn't installed properly.

Hi David

just been and checked again. Bulb is definately seated ok.

When the car is about a cars length away from a wall the O/S mainbeam sits just above the dip beam pattern.
On the N/S the main beam is about a 6" - 12" above the dip beam pattern.

Using the dash adjuster they both appear to go up and down.

Checked all main and dip bulbs with a mirror to check they are seated correctly and they are.

main beam bulb is on a little metal assembly so tried putting some pressure on that to see if it will bend down.

will check again when its dark

Many thanks.

the dip beams are in line and give the correct beam pattern and height.

The only thing I can think off is someone has bent the bracketry the bulb sits on for the N/S main beam.

I'll try bending it back first before going for a headlight.

The usual issue is that someone has put a dip beam bulb in wrong, which has moved the dip beam, they've then adjusted the headlight to get the dip beam correct, which then moves the main beam out of alignment.
Maybe someone did that and then bent the main beam unit to get it back.

Thanks for your help and advice David. I do appreciate it.

Situation is in a sort of status quo for a bit now because I am off on holiday for a week and the bonnet is stuck in the closed position!
