Can anyone with a fiche thing tell me how many bits of exhaust pipe there are on the V6? (94/M).

Tarquini is puffing a bit. It looks like a hole at, in or near this flexible piece (there's actually 2 of them - one for each cylinder bank) that looks like a giant braided hose.

Is that bit available separately and is there a "better" (root! root!) part to have than a bog-standard Alfa replacement?

The rest of the system looks pretty good but if this piece is hugely expensive I may just patch it while I save up for an aftermarket system.

Anyone know of a good system that extends that far towards the front of the car?

If it is the flexy piece, you dont have to got to main dealers, I had mine replaced year and a half ago for £300 at a local tyre/exhaust specialist. Still bloody expensive.

Scaramanga!

Yes, it's the flexible pipe thing...

Plan 2: Is there a good aftermarket system about that includes that section? It can't be that much more, can it and then I get an entirely new system for my cash.

I wouldn't think Flexi-pipes are normally part of an aftermarket kit. I reckoned main dealer as I had to replace one on my Mazda 323F a few years back and only the dealer did it.

Looking at the prices above you'll have to pay something simliar if you could get a system to include one. Most aftermarket "full" systems run from the cat back (as I'm sure you know wink )

can you not get an exhuast manufactuer to make you one .
We have a place in Attleborough/Nuneaton called Custom Chromes Tel ;024 76387808 that make full systems for the unusual types not saying you are odd but you might have some look with your system from here.

Just finished fitting a new front section on my V6 and, just to add my ten pence worth to this thread, I haven't found any comapany producing this section apart from the genuine alfa part :(

But after being quoted £420 plus (parts and fitting) by the local alfa dealer, I went to Mangoletsi and got the whole thing including gaskets for £220 which was nice.

I did have to buy another Lambda sensor as a) it had welded itself in and b) my mate chris is very handy with a lump hammerjavascript:void(0)
Big Grin.

So, if anyone is interested in a second hand front section which apart from a split in one of the flexi sections is in fine nick, then make me an offer. Oh yes you will have to drill out the lambda sensor or whats left of it :p :p

The front section on mine has been repaired, its got two steel wraps around the flexi parts, also i had to drill a sheared bolt out of the flange/joint from the front bank and also one at the rear bank and replaced both with a nut and bolt, i originally tried to source a new section. None of the exhaust places did them as it seems to be an alfa only part,so i rang my local specialist and they quoted me £240 inc fitting, which doesn't seem too bad judging on some of these posts. But i'm a tight arse so i repaired it myself :D (doesn't blow and passed mot ok,although they noted it had been repaired on the check sheet. It'll be good for another year easy wink )

What do you mean, "handy with a lump hammer" !!

Probably didn`t work anyway <ahem>.
