Ok so one of the exhaust brackets broke off the other week (right at the front of the middle section of the exhaust) leaving a 20p sized hole in the top of the exhaust.

For now it's been patched with a Gun Gum Flexiwrap Straight Pipe Repair (AWFUL product, dont buy it! The stupidly small catches that are supposed to catch the end of the securing band bend as soon as you try to get it tight).

I could get a secondhand mid-pipe for £50 or I've been looking at the alfaholics mid section but at £189 I'd need a good reason to go for it

Three questions:
1). Will having that mounting bracket missing cause any damage to the rest of the system if I leave it for a while?

2). Would there be a benefit to getting the alfaholics mid-section with it's “straight-through” silencer without replacing the rest of the exhaust?

3). Any other exhaust suppliers out there that are recommended?

It gives a really nice deep tone, even on tickover, no idea about HP gains but it must do some good!

What have you got for a rear silencer??

Just standard at the moment. I only replaced the centre box because it rusted. It weighed a ton and as thr Gtv is a heavy car anyway, I wanted to get shot of some weight. I would look at a system that got rid of another box at the rear, for the same reason really. Something like

Unfortunately no I dont have the bit anymore

Any idea if I'm doing more damage driving without that mount?

i guess it would put a bit of stress on the joins of that section as there is no support for the weight
