Cambelt changes when?
what mods can you do (tasteful ones only) ?
Anything I should look out for on the car ?
Sele-speed,not used it yet but how easy is it ?
Alfa ( cheap )specialists in Essex for servicing etc ?
What will be the stereo I get is it good bad or ugly, I like my music so ifthe standard one is ****e I would appreciate someone letting me know?

The Lodge in Woodham, last Wednesday in the month. ( Southeast meets thread).
Cambelt every 36k
Look out for Cambelt, electrics, upper wishbones, anti roll bar bushes.
Selespeed - Pass.
Where in Essex are you?
I like my music also and think the Alfa one (non Bose) is pretty good, but I need to get an MP3 adapter on it.

Almost forgot. Mods:-

Lower it Eibach seem popular. Upgrade the brakes (40% off Red Dot if AO member) Airfilter BMC CDA or many others (see various threads) new exhausts don't seem to do much, but CSC Back boxes are popular, oh and a re-map (via Red Dot again).

Think that covers it all!

Corbo - Bought mine without seeing it!
So far so good!

Roofless - I'm in Wickford and Ockendon (round the girlfriends). There's a few places which are supposed to be good for servicing. Power Italia by the Fortune of War. Italian Race Spares?? at Bowers Basildon. Have a list of others but they're at work!

Ah well I suppose if it has a warranty you don't have too much to worry about. Good luck with it I hope you enjoy it.

I have the selespeed and I love it. It has to be driven like a manual, if you're expecting an automatic you'll be disapointed. Take a few minutes to read up on how it operates, for example it will put you into neutral after 1 minute stationary, it will change down for you if you forget to when you slow down so that you're always able to accelerate away.

And don't forget to hold your key fob down when you open the central locking so it slides your windows down at the same time :)

well I own a Lotus elise so to me that is my driving toy, however when it comes to looks I love the 147, always have done and always wanted one, just everytime been inposition head has always overruled the heart, but this time heart has won. I iknow I will get high service costs and high maintenance but for the look of the car so what . its a must have ... where in Wickford are you and what age

I'm 34 and live near Beauchamps School.

Contrary to popular belief Alfa's are not extortionate to run.

Alfa's are like women, treat 'em nice and they'll give you the best ride of your life! :p

Hi,

I'm new to the forum and came accross this post. (I'm currently on the hunt for a 147). Roofless, did you by any chance buy that Alfa from Wilsons in Epsom? If so I wish I had read this post earlier. I've just wasted an hour searching for it on the forecourt this morning as I was very interested in buying it!!! cry: (Your avitar looks the same as on their website).

I came accross it on the way home from work and stopped to take a quick look last week. If it is the one, you've had a great buy. It is in immaculate condition in and out. The only things I spotted was condensation in one headlight and the exhaust back box was a bit corroded. The leather looks superb and it also has the Bose sound system. I'm very upset now you've got my car. Lol. I hope you enjoy it. Guess i'll have to keep searching!

Regards
Adam

Hi Adf83, yep that's the one ..sorry !!! At least you have put my mind at rest as I purchased it without actually seeing/driving it so took a risk, not something I would actually do but hey I was smitten with it. I was terribly and embarassingly drunk last night and shouldn't have been posting so I'm just going through the stuff I wrote last night.... I'm cringing as I write :O) good luck in your search for an alternative car ... cheers Roofless

I downgraded to a 147 2.0 after my 156 GTA last month. Good little car, but sits a little high.

I organise the essex meet on the 4th Wednesday of every month. :)
