Hello everyone!
8 months ago i had to change my cam chain on my 159 2,2. I put a question here on this forum about it.
2 weeks ago a new code came up. P0011. Cam shaft actuator / over advance.
Has anyone experianced this. Is it the actuator or the sensor.
The car goes as before no change in behavior.
I am greatful for an answer that solves my problem.

anyone please!!!
Rikard
I have now had this problem for a couple of months. The engine start perfect, idle perfect respond perfect at any revs. The code comes up every 8-10 starts and go off at the same numbers of starts. In the beginning i turned it down with my eobd-tool. but lately i have let it turn off by itself. The thing is that there is no fault code stored, when it turn it self off after a number of starts.
Today i measured the two sensors, and they had a value of 576 and 580 Ohm:s
I found a spare part company that described them as 550 Ohm sensor.
Could this be the problem? To me it sound to small difference to be the problem, but who knows.
Please any ideas or thoughts is appreciated:cry:

I'm afraid this might be the first indication that your timing chain is starting to get stretched, and may need replacement. This is a known issue on a few of the 2.2 JTS engines. I don't have that motor, but you may wish to see where your tensioner is at. Otherwise it might require a trip to an Alfa specialist for a proper diagnosis.

Do a search for stretched timing chain issues.

M.

Edit: Just noticed you had your cam chain replaced 8 months ago  Not sure at all then

Rikard,

Have you solved your problem? Since I have same engine as you do and p0011 came up (and sometimes p0010) recently. I hesitate to change the chain because I read a lot of stories like yours when people changed their chain and it didn't help. It's also worth mentioning that my errors emerge ONLY when the oil gets warmed up more than 100c - otherwise I can see with MES variator working perfectly... Then exhaust solenoid just stops responding to the tasks from ECU

Hi did anyone get anywhere with this. My chain was changed about a month ago (less than 300 miles). I am getting the P0011 error, again turns on and then turns off after a number of restarts. So could code be due to something done during the chain change, I don't think the balancer chain was changed so no idea where the tensioner is at, is there an easy way to check the tensioner ?

When I checked the ECU also had code P1100 which can't find any definition for on GM/Alfa but on Mazda its to do with MAF, so not sure is that's connected.

Clear the code and then start the engine when cold and see how long it takes for the code to appear.
It could be just the delay in oil pressure building up and operating tensioners or the vvt mechanism if the code appears just after starting.

Try the above with a hot engine and also by clearing the code with the engine already idling.

Been ok for last few no days, starting from cold run car for 15 mins no error. Today however starting from warm water and oil up to temp, error came on straight away at startup and stayed on for during an hours driving including a few starts. Got back and checked codes, same codes as before p1100 and p0011
Might check air filter first, suppose a maf problem could cause the other error

Its not very conclusive, mainly because the mil will not usually be switched on at the first occurrence of a fault. (pending fault code). If the fault persists, over more than one drive cycle, then the mil comes on and fault code is logged.
I.e we can't conclude at this stage that it is something to do with the engine being up to temp. You'd need to keep checking and clearing the code. If it comes back as soon as its been cleared then this is a bit more helpful.
