 Aaahhgg, help me please....

My 155 1.8 16v has just developed a really bizare problem....

I can't start the engine and non of the auxilary electrics work either (no power)... except... when I turn the ignition key the speedo rises to 30 mph !!

I've checked all the fuses, no problems there.
The battery should be OK (was replaced less than 6 months ago).

I thought about checking the engine earth strap, but don't know where this is, any suggestions ?

Has anyone else had this problem or able to offer advice ?

This is driving me mad...!!

Thanks in anticipation.... RobT.

Check the connection on top of the positive battery cable, (2x 10mm nuts I think) I think these supply the dashboard electics and have heard if not tight and especially if not clean they will stop the engine starting.

For the earth strap, i guess you may need to follow the negative cable from the battery down to where it connects to the chassis.

Cheers
Jack :D

Problem Sorted !!

Once again, you guys were bang on the money...

One of the battery terminal connections had worked loose.

Once the connector had been reseated and tightened back up, everything was hunky dory again.

Thanks again..... RobT.
