Dear All,

Not long had my 156 and notice the engine undertray is missing, so the question is, is this really an essential part or not? What are the consequences of not having one fitted?

Hi Fraser
Not essential but better to have one, definitely aids aerodynamics and aids getting channeling and getting rid of hot air from the engine bay.
You can buy nice stainless steel versions.

The scrape marks on my Ali guard prove it works. Better than a busted sump.

...and they give only minimal protection against a cracked sump, take off the alu bridge
that protects the exhaust, it sticks out to low and is bolted with steel bolts to the sump,
you can imagine what happens if it is hit hard !
