Hi im a new alfa owner, 2.0 156 TS 2001 on y plate. I bought this car from a guy I know very well who has had the car since new and has had it serviced at every interval with cam belt changes completed one just done, its only got 65k on the clock .

I have to admit he drove it no more than 60 - 70mph max. I however am little heavy on the right foot. I drove it back from work tonight and was doing somewhat over 70 when the engine management light came on. It drove perfect all the way home . It idles perfect and no fluids are bieng lost. I can only guess its a lambda sensor or emissions issue ?? Does anyone have any advice , is this common ? i can get the EMU codes checked tomorow but wonderd if i should be concerned.

Appologies if thiS is not in the correct forum I am as i say new to alfas and this site.

thanks for response i started the car today and the management light is still present, if i increase revs no problems at all but on releasing accelerator the engine revs drop but not smoothly, more of an erratic pattern / sound , idles perfect though . Having it checked tomorrow so as you say all will be revealed.

This is a well known problem. I found it impossible to solve. When you come to sell the car get a garage to delete the error off the computer. In my case there was nothing wrong with the car, but this happened at least once per year. Alfa tried to solve it under warranty but despite a lot of effort failed. As soon as the warranty ran out they washed their hands of the problem.

today light went out on its own accord whilst driving and it hasnt come back on, (checked codes on friends tech2 and to be honest nothing of any concern there whatsoever). so im baffled , the only thing i had done any differently prior to light coming on was fill up with unleaded rather than super unleaded super unleade being what the previous owner ran it on all the time, this morning i used super unleaded and light went out probably a coincidence but all seems well....
