The engine control system (EOBD) light came on last night but not on start up it started to flash when the engine was warm all the readings were normal temperature etc.......flashed for a bit then went off then came on again and so on.....on and off all the way home. The engine felt lumpy no power when the light was on and normal when the light was off.It is a JTS spider 2004 can anyone shed any light on it cheers,

You need someone with a software (e.g. Examiner, Unidiag, Alfadiag or FiatECUscan) to read fault codes from ECU. Only this can say what is wrong with her.

I thought a flashing EOBD light was something to do with catalytic converter damage/failure. A fixed light is something to do with the ignition system. I know that if I don't drive my car for a while I can sometimes get the EOBD light coming on due to a damp coil pack on one of the cylinders or a lambda sensor not responding quick enough. It's never surprised my mechanic. He usually checks the fault code on the examiner and just turns the light off.

To cossa

This is different as the car changes when the light is on or flashing. From cold the car is fine when it starts to get warm the problem starts.Taking it in tomorrow for an investigation. Cheers.
